Sustainable Livelihoods

This thematic area aims to increase household incomes among targeted communities by strengthening economic opportunities and resilience. It aligns with SDG 2, which seeks to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture, as well as SDG 8.5, which calls for full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men—including young people and persons with disabilities—and equal pay for work of equal value by 2030.

Under this thematic area, our approach includes:

  • Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) / Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) methodologies
  • Linking communities to formal financial institutions and inclusive financial services
  • Promoting farming as a business through market-oriented and value chain approaches
  • Engaging both public and private sector actors to create sustainable economic opportunities
