Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV/GBV)

Over the next five years, Charity Corps Uganda will strengthen the integration of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) into its Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV/GBV) programming. This integrated approach recognizes the strong link between the psychological impact of violence and survivors’ ability to access and benefit from quality sexual and reproductive health services.

Our goal is to address the complex mental health challenges faced by survivors of SGBV/GBV, reduce barriers to care, and promote healing, dignity, protection, and equitable access to comprehensive SRHR services.

Our SRHR and SGBV/GBV interventions will include:

  • Providing psychosocial support services to reduce trauma, strengthen coping mechanisms, and decrease internalized stigma among survivors
  • Implementing the SASA! methodology to prevent violence and promote gender equality at the community level
  • Facilitating social norms change initiatives that challenge harmful gender norms and discriminatory practices
  • Delivering survivor-centered case management to ensure timely, confidential, and coordinated care
  • Strengthening coordination, networking, and strategic partnerships with government, civil society, and community structures to enhance prevention and response efforts
